Sri Mahamariamman at Queen Street,Penang is under renovation, it is expected to complete by next year.
This temple was built in 1833 and it is the oldest Hindu Temple in Malaysia. By the beginning this temple was small and simple shrine, however it is an important place of worship for early Indian immigrants.
Throughout the years, this temple was extensively renovated and features sculptures of gods and goddesses over its main entrance and facade. Nowadays it is an important cultural and national heritage.
Visitors are welcome, but they would like to ask permission from any of the priests and remove their shoes before entering the temple.
