Balik Pulau Herbal Sauna

There is an ancient herbal sauna located at Titi Serong, Balik Pulau.

This herbal sauna is hiding in the village, however it not difficult to get there. It is about few minute walk from SMK St.George.

If you drive from main road toward SMK St. George, after the school you may see a bridge. When you cross the bridge then you may see a signboard on your right hand side which mean you already reach the place.

This herbal sauna room is very simple without any decoration. However, when you step in that area you will smell the aroma of herbal and the heat of burning wood.

As we know herbal sauna is good for health and blood circulation, but it does mean it is good for everyone. The owner put a signboard to tell visitor about herbal sauna, the benefit of sauna and things have to take note.

This sauna is not suitable for those have heart disease, hypertension, infectious skin diseases, epilepsy, pregnant, frail and so on.

Normally they open one room for man and women to share. You may bring along your clothes to change or take a shower after sauna.

Penang Hill Train

Penang Hill railway service was opened to the public on October 21, 1923. The old coaches of railway were replaces in 1977.These two trains were slow, passenger had to change train at halfway up or down.

However the new train replace on April 25, 2011. The new train provide non-stop service, so the passengers no longer necessary to change train halfway up. This blue, air conditioned Swiss made coaches, capable of ferry up to 100 passengers at one go, 1000 peoples per hour.

The old train were display at few places, like State Museum and Penang Hill.

Love Lock became a new attraction at Penang Hill. It’s opened on 14 February 2014, Valentine’s Day.

Now there are a lot of padlock at 80 feet wide fence. The lover wrote their name or love message on the padlock then locking it on the fence. There are a stall selling the padlock and provide permanent pen for customer to write.

Penang Hill -Monkey Cup Garden

Monkey Cup garden at Penang Hill has more than 100 varieties of carnivorous plants, including Nepenthes Albomarginata, Nepenthes x hookeriana, Nepenthes Veitchii, Nepenthes rafflesiana, Nepenthes Ampullaria.

The plants have different shapes, sizes and colour. There are mostly from South-East Asia, which including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India and also from North America.

The MonkeyCup Garden is about 1.5km from the Penang Hill top station. You may paid for ride or walk about 20-30 mins.

This temple was built in 1833 and it is the oldest Hindu Temple in Malaysia. By the beginning this temple was small and simple shrine, however it is an important place of worship for early Indian immigrants.

Penang Hop-On Hop-Off bus service

Penang Hop-On Hop-Off bus service will be launched on Nov 16.

This service would cover 33 tourist spots on Penang Island, from Teluk Bahang to Persiaran Gurney and from Persiaran Gurney to Penang Hill.

The tour service start form 9am to 8pm daily. The price for non Malaysian tourists is RM 45 for adult and RM 24 for children, Malaysian is RM 19 for adult and RM 12 for children.

Penang 2nd Bridge will be closed on 3 pm (15/11) until 3 pm (16/11) for Penang Bridge International Marathon 2014.

50 Free shuttle buses would operate from 10 pm, 15 Nov 2014 to 12 pm, 16 Nov. The participants can take a bus at Weld Quay Bus terminal, Komtar and Queensbay Mall.

When you come to Air Itam roundabout, you will see The Chinese Anti-War Memorial. It is a memorial to the Chinese peoples of Penang who died in Second World War and the Penang Chinese Transportation Volunteers.

The annual memorial service will be held at the memorial on 11th November.

The monument was officially opened on 11 November 1951. In year 2011 the memorial park added three new features to enhance its historical value and tourist appeal. It is included the World Peace Memorial, Park Mural and the Penang Chinese Relief memorial depicts the transportation volunteers sent to provide relief for China.
